Jan Krusche Deutschland About Jan Jan Krusche, born and raised in Berlin, Germany, studied law at Freie Universität Berlin and passed the first state exam in 2011 and the second state exam in 2015. He was awarded a doctorate in law with a thesis on the patentability of DNA sequences in 2017 from Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property in Munich. Alongside, he studied culture and regional science in Shanghai and Berlin (graduated with an M.A. in 2018). In 2021, he graduated with a Master’s degree (LL.M.) from UC California (Berkeley). Jan’s academic and research focus lies in IP law, patentability of genetic material, protection purpose theories, subjective rights to personal data and IP pooling systems. He worked as a research fellow at the Institute for Energy and Regulatory Law in Berlin. He was admitte to the German Bar in 2015. Until 2021, Jan practised as a lawyer in the TMT team of Hengeler Mueller. Currently, he is General Counsel of Serrala. Areas of Practice IP Law
