About Thomaz

Thomaz is Berkeley Law 2017 PLLM (certification in Law & Technology and Public Law & Regulation).

Since 2011, Thomaz has been a Federal Attorney for the Brazilian Senate (currently Coordinator-General of Litigation, 2018-), and a partner at a firm focused on technology development contracts, start-up law and related corporate law (2011-).

Recently (June 2018), Thomaz has founded an ODR start-up devoted to real estate contracts (not yet operational as of January 2019).

From 2008 to 2011, he litigated in environmental law on behalf of the Brazilian Environmental Office in Mato Grosso, the Brazilian State with the most instances of violations.

Before that, from 2002 until 2008, Thomaz mostly pleaded before the Brazilian High Courts (STJ and STF), negotiated and drafted technology development contracts, and litigated on government contracts in the IT field for a boutique firm (Villela Advogados Associados).

Thomaz was a medical student from age 17 to 19 at the University of Brasília, then covered about 85% of the credits for a mechanical engineering degree, part at the University of São Paulo, part at UnB, and studied communications for 2 years, as well, before commiting to Law.
